kinfolk magazine

January 30th, 2012

i hope everyone had a lovely weekend. we had absolutely beautiful weather here in san francisco, very strange for the middle of winter! we made the most of our vitamin d dose and drove through the redwoods, up the coast, stopping along the way to check out cool towns, farm stands and pretty nurseries, it was wonderful!

what did you get up to in your part of the world?

so, i finally read my copy of kinfolk magazine (volume 2), and i now know what all the rave’s about!

kinfolk’s humble aesthetic had already drawn me in but it wasn’t until i started reading the heartfelt articles, did i truly appreciate this wonderful magazine.

the featured authors, write poetically about our relationship with food and how important it is to embrace each season with all it’s glory and gifts.

issue two being based around winter, really tunes you in those warm comfortable moments, nostalgic moments and how vital is it to rely on the bond over food with loved  ones.

you can’t help but feel calm and content while reading. the writers describe their stories so beautifully, you can picture yourself in each scenario. it really is quite wonderful. not only was i taken back by the various talented authors, the photography is gorgeous! the imagery feels raw and familiar, helping to create that warm welcome you feel as soon as you open up the pages.

voyager

January 26th, 2012

yesterday i popped by voyager to pick up my first copy of kinfolk magazine, which i am very excited to flip through. having not been to voyager i was pleasantly surprised when i walked in the door.

honestly, it was one of the greatest stores i’ve stepped foot in, i had to take a few quick few snaps. i was overwhelmed by the decor as well as the product, the wooden features/ tropical plants, patterns/textures and hanging lights made this store ultimately appealing straight away.

voyager is a collaboration of san francisco based revolver, spartan, needles/pens and michael rosenthal art gallery. this place is filled with awesome goodies, ranging from clothes, books, art, jewelry, plants and homewares. the store is located on valencia in the mission, if you are ever in the area do yourselves a favor and go take a peek!
